William and Catherine Gladstone (Glynne) were married in 1838. They lived at Hawarden Castle which belonged to Catherine's Brother, along with the Glynne family.  In addition they spent a lot of time living in London whilst Gladstone was conducting his ministerial duties....

William Henry Gladstone

Gladstone’s eldest son was born in Hawarden, Flintshire, Wales. He attended Eton College and read Greek and Latin at Christ Church, Oxford University. He was an MP for a total of 20 years, representing Chester for 3 years, Whitby for 12 years and East Worcestershire for 5 years....

Stephen Edward Gladstone

The Rev. Stephen Edward Gladstone was born and christened at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster on 1st May 1844. 

He was educated at Eton and Christ Church College, Oxford.  He was ordained in the Church of England and  he became Rector of Hawarden in 1872....

Catherine Jessy Gladstone

Catherine Jessy Gladstone was William and Catherine's second daughter.  She was born at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster in 1845.....

Mary Gladstone

 

Mary Gladstone, was born and christened at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster on 21st December 1847.  

Mary was private secretary, adviser and confidante of her father William Gladstone.

She married Rev. Henry Drew at Hanover Square in 1886 and they had a daughter, Dorothy...

Helen Gladstone

 

Helen was the Gladstone’s youngest daughter and was born and christened on 21st September 1849 in Hawarden, Flintshire.

Her sister Mary encouraged her to study at Newnham College, Cambridge....

Henry Neville Gladstone

Henry Neville Gladstone was born and christened at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster on 28th April 1852.  

He was educated at Eton College and King's College, London.  He acted as Private Secretary to his father, the Prime Minister, and was a director of P&O and the B I Steamship Co....

Herbert John Gladstone

Herbert Gladstone was the youngest son of  William Gladstone and his wife Catherine, and was born in Downing Street where his father was living at the time as Chancellor of the Exchequer. ....

Sir Erskine William Gladstone was the great-grandson of William E. Gladstone.  

Sir William served in the Royal Naval Reserves during the Second World War.  Later he was a teacher in Shrewsbury and at Eton, and Head Master of Lancing....
